Final Fantasy 8 Side Quests

Defeating Ultima Weapon and Acquiring the greatest GF: Eden

After defeating Bahamut, exit the research center and board the Ragnarok. Head to the conference room, and once you've done that, head back to the research center. You will see that the Core is now gone, and there is a deep hole. Climb down the hole.

From here, you must reach the bottom floor by using 20 units of steam power to open the air locks. Once you reach the bottom, you must have 10 units left so you can start the final control panel.

There are 2 ways to do this, one WITH ZELL, and one WITHOUT ZELL. There both about the same difficulty, so which path you choose is fine.

Without Zell

Floor 1: Use 4 units to head down to floor 2.
Floor 2: Spend 2 units to open the door to floor 3: Sector 2.
Floor 3: First, use the monitor on the left under the stairs to spend 4 units to open the Steam Room. Inside the steam room you can use the Esuna Draw Point and use the station there to recharge 7 units for a total of 17 units. Use the second station in the main room to spend 1 Unit, and open the door to floor 4: Sector 6.
Floor 4: Spend 1 unit to open the door to floor 5: Sector 9.
Floor 5: Spend 1 unit to open door to floor 6.
Floor 6: Spend 4 Units to open the door to the excavation site.

Once your at the excavation site, make sure you SAVE your game in the hidden draw point to the left of the control panel. Then use 10 units to activate the control panel and start the fight against the 2nd hardest boss in the game, Ultima Weapon. Boss strategy below the strategy with zell.

With Zell

Floor 1: Spend 4 units to go to floor 2.
Floor 2: Use 1 unit to open the door to floor 3: Sector 3.
Floor 3: Use 1 unit to open the door to floor 4: Sector 6.
Floor 4: Use 1 unit to open the door to floor 5: Sector 9.
Floor 5: Use 1 unit to open the door to floor 6.

Defeating Ultima Weapon

Make sure you have Revive, Triple, Aura, Curaga, and Meltdown. Also make sure you have a lot of items to revive and heal. Also, Squall's Lionheart will be a great asset to your party. Start the battle by casting haste on everyone. Then hit it with doomtrait or cast meltdown to lower its defenses. Also, be sure to draw EDEN from Ultima. Cast Cerberus so you can use 3 magics in a row to heal your party. Cast Aura on everyone, and unload your limit breaks onto him. Squall should dish out the most damage, and if you have the Lionheart and your lucky you'll get Lionheart, and that should finish him off. If you don't get Lionheart, just keep your HP high and keep using Aura and limits.
